A lone explorer overlooks a sunlit desert metropolis of pyramids and obelisks, the opening exhibit of the PLINTH gallery.

The gallery for video games

Games,
hung like art.

PLINTH reviews each release the way a museum hangs a canvas — flat light, enormous type, and the game itself as the only source of colour. Six exhibits are open now.

Now on the wall

Six rooms. Six worlds. One score apiece.

We do not chase the release calendar. We hang a game only once we have lived in it long enough to frame it properly — world, systems, art and sound, performance, verdict.

Key art from Aurora Standard by Northlight Atelier.

Open-World Adventure

Aurora Standard

Northlight Atelier

A 60-hour open-world adventure built around in-world photography rather than conquest. Aurora Standard treats its valley like a living gallery, rewarding patience, framing and return visits over the usual checklist of towers and territory.

Key art from Vesper Drive by Midnight Cartel.

Neo-Noir Pursuit Racing

Vesper Drive

Midnight Cartel

A neo-noir pursuit racer set across one endless rain-soaked night. Vesper Drive replaces lap counters with narrative escapes, weaving a heist plot through drift physics that reward nerve over the perfect line.

Key art from Foundry of Glass by Pane Studios.

Physics Architecture Puzzle Builder

Foundry of Glass

Pane Studios

A physics-driven architecture builder where every pane bears real load. Foundry of Glass asks you to raise impossible structures from molten glass, then watches, unblinking, as stress and gravity grade your ambition.

Key art from The Quiet Coast by Tidewater Works.

Narrative Survival

The Quiet Coast

Tidewater Works

A slow, humane narrative-survival game about keeping a stranded community fed and known to one another. The Quiet Coast measures a season not in threats defeated but in letters written, meals shared and names remembered.

Key art from Iron Cadence by Anvil Loop.

Tactical Mech Real-Time Strategy

Iron Cadence

Anvil Loop

A tactical mech RTS that runs on rhythm. Iron Cadence stages every order on a four-count tempo, turning frantic real-time battles into readable, musical phrases of advance, brace, fire and reload.

Key art from Halcyon Ascent by Skyward Forge.

Vertical Climbing & Parkour Adventure

Halcyon Ascent

Skyward Forge

A vertical climbing and parkour adventure set on a tower of floating ruins a full mile high. Halcyon Ascent trades fast travel for honest altitude, where momentum is currency and the only way out is up.

The gallery method

Criticism with the lights up.

A photographer's eye trained on a game world, framing a single quiet moment.

We review the framing, not the hype.

Every exhibit gets the same treatment a gallery gives a painting: even light, no glare, nothing on the wall to distract from the work. Our writers spend a fortnight minimum inside a game before a single sentence is hung. When the verdict lands, it is because the room earned it.

The Plinth Score is a sentence, not a sticker.

Each release leaves with one number out of one hundred, computed across four bands — world, systems, art and sound, performance — and printed at poster scale. No coloured badge, no five-star confetti. The number is the statement, and the writing underneath it does the arguing.

The adventure wing

Some worlds are too big
to hang on one wall.

From the sunlit dunes of Aurora Standard to the mile-high ruins of Halcyon Ascent, our open-world coverage goes the distance — and writes it all down.
